- By reading levels
Can your students take your classroom library
books home?
- It depends on the year and the students I have. The last few years they were not allowed to take them home but this year I have more mature and responsible kids so I trust them and allow them to.
What are the rules you give your students for
how to take care of your classroom library books?
- Yes, at the beginning of the year when we go over procedures we go over how to act in the library and how to take care of the books. We constantly go over it throughout the year as well.
What time of the day do your students visit your
classroom library?
- During centers in the morning or after specials in the afternoon.
What type of reading labs does your school
provide?
- We have an aide that comes in to our classrooms that help the lower level readers.

- No

Do you provide incentives for reading?
- Yes, when students know their sight words for that week they get a sticker on the brag wall in my classroom
What check out system do you use for students
checking out your book?
- On Mondays they can get a book from the library and on Fridays they return the book. Throughout the week if a student ask me if they can switch their books I will allow them too if we aren't in the middle of a lesson. Students are only allowed to have one book at a time from my classroom library.
Do you invite parents or involve them in any way
relating to your literacy program?
- All of the Kindergarten teachers work together and we have a Kindergarten Family Literacy night.
